SALT LAKE CITY — A vigil at the State Capitol took place Monday night where residents asked for prayers and support as they wait to hear from their loved ones in Kenya.

With the latest reports of 68 people killed and 175 hospitalized, Kenyans in Utah are fearing the worst.

“We’re here to show support to the victims of terrorists attack in Kenya,” said Kenyan man Amram Musungu, organizer of the vigil. “I am Kenyan and we have fellow Kenyans are here and friends, to make sure we show support to our brothers and sisters over there.”

Musungu said he does not support what is happening and his religion is being brought into the mess.

“We want to show Islamists represent peace, we do not condone what is going on in Kenya right now,” he said.

The people at the vigil said the event was not only about supporting each other but also sending a message to terrorists that there is no place for violence in the world.
