SALT LAKE CITY — A blustery day is in store for Utah’s biggest college football game of the year.

The National Weather Service is reporting high winds to sweep across the west central, northwestern deserts and the central Wasatch Front. A wind advisory will be put into effect from noon until 10 p.m.

Wind gusts are expected to reach in excess of 45 miles per hour, according to the weather service. The advisory will be followed by a cold front moving up from Nevada.

The weather service states the strong cross winds will make it difficult to travel on east to west roads such as Interstate 80, U.S. Highway 6 and State Route 21. Blowing dust is expected.

The University of Utah versus Brigham Young University game will face off in Provo at 8:15 p.m. It will be the last time they play each other before taking a two-year break.

The series will resume at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Sept. 10, 2016.
