LAYTON, Utah -- The body of a swimmer who went missing in Holmes Creek Reservoir in Layton was found Friday morning, according to Layton Police.

On Thursday around 4:30 p.m., authorities were called to the pond to help find Tyler Flint, 20, who never made it out of the water.

“He stopped in the center, apparently said something to the female that he didn’t think he was going to make it across the pond, and he went under,” said Lt. Shawn Horton of the Layton Police Department.

Two friends, ages 18 and 19, reportedly tried to help Flint, but they were unable to pull him from the water.

“I have no idea why he was having a hard time and why indicated he didn’t think he was going to make it across,” Horton said.

As soon as the Layton Fire Department arrived, three responders dove into the water to try to look for Flint, but they were unable to find any sign of him.

Davis County Search and Rescue was called to assist, and a five person dive team spent several hours searching a region of water that was about 20-feet deep, where Flint was last seen.

The search was suspended around 9 p.m. Thursday due to poor visibility. Authorities resumed the search Friday morning. Flint's body was found around 8:30 a.m.
