SALT LAKE CITY --  The bail amount for a former child psychiatrist accused of having child pornography on his work computer was lowered Tuesday.

David Ford Wilson, 41, appeared in court seeking to lower his $150,000 bail. He claimed that since he was fired from his position at Intermountain Healthcare, he has had no way to provide for his family, let alone come up with the bail money.

Prosecutors argued that $150,000 bail is the standard amount in child pornography possession cases like Wilson's, and it shouldn't be lowered.

The judge made the decision to reduce Wilson's bail to $100,000.

Wilson was arrested on Sept. 6 following an investigation conducted by an Internet Crimes Against Children detective from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation was launched after information systems security workers for Intermountain Healthcare discovered one of the company’s computers was being used to access suspected child pornography, according to a press release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office

Wilson faces 15 second-degree felony charges of sexual exploitation of a minor. He will be back on court on Oct. 8.
