SALT LAKE CITY – Doctors and nurses from the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Mark's Hospital got a rare chance to see how the babies they’ve helped have grown to be healthy children.

The medical personnel were able to reunite with their former patients and their families, and all of the parents brought pictures of their babies from when they were in the NICU in order to show how far the children have come.

Wendy Scadden is the grandmother of one of the children, and she said the event was a way to say thank you.

“We spent every night down here, and the parents were here every day,” she said. “So you really get to know these people and how much they care about these kids. So it's nice to be able to tell them thank you for giving us that life.”

The NICU staff has cared for more than 7,000 babies in the last 15 years.
