A dispatcher made a "last call" for Draper Police Sgt. Derek Johnson Friday afternoon as part of the ceremonies honoring the fallen officer.

Sgt. Johnson was killed in the line of duty Sunday. Hundreds attended his funeral and burial service Friday.

The dispatcher began by calling out Sgt. Johnson's badge number to simulation an attempt to reach him.

"After he doesn’t respond, the dispatcher will ultimately say a few words about him and ultimately clear him from duty,” said Sgt. Jon Arnold, Sandy Police Department. “This is something that tugs at your heart.”
