SALT LAKE CITY — A 25-year-old man is in critical condition after accidentally driving his bullet bike off a ravine in Big Cottonwood Canyon Thursday night.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. the man was speeding east up the canyon when he couldn’t manage a turn at 11800 Big Cottonwood Canyon, according to Unified Police. He and his bike went off the side and fell about 100 feet.

The victim was flown to University of Utah Hospital with leg injuries. He remains in critical condition, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.

Officers also found several beer cans at the scene of the accident.

“Speed and alcohol aren’t a good combination,” Hoyal said.
