SOUTH JORDAN — A woman is dead after a motorcycle accident in South Jordan early Saturday morning.

A 32-year-old man was driving a bullet bike at a high rate of speed, South Jordan police said Sunday morning. A 29-year-old woman was riding as a passenger.

At approximately 12:15 a.m. the man failed to make a turn at 3200 West and 10950 South causing the bike to hit the curb, said South Jordan Police Officer B.J. Smith.

Both victims were not wearing helmets, Smith said.

The woman was airlifted to University Utah Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The driver was transported to Intermountain Medical Center with a broken leg and other injuries. Smith said he didn’t know of the man’s current condition.

It is unknown how fast the man was driving, the officer said. It’s part of the investigation.

Smith said police could release the names of the victims Monday pending the completion of the investigation.
