BOUNTIFUL, Utah – Bountiful City Police Department officials are asking for the public’s help identifying a retail theft suspect.

The department posted the picture on their Facebook page Sunday with a caption indicating the man is wanted as a suspect in a retail theft case.

The caption said in part, “You can’t get a much better surveillance photo than this. The man in the picture is wanted as a suspect in a retail theft. If you know him, please tell us who he is.”

Sgt. Derrick Tyles, Bountiful Police Department, said that around 1 p.m. Sunday the man entered a Smith’s Marketplace at 555 S. 200 West and walked out with a cart full of miscellaneous items totaling less than $500.

A store employee followed the man outside and took a picture of him with his cellphone. The suspect got into purple older-model compact car with rust on it and left.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call police at 801-298-6000 and reference case number 2013—002876.

FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
