MURRAY, Utah—One in four people will be impacted by mental illness in their lives, and that statistic was on the minds of those who organized a Family Wellness Fair in Murray Saturday.

The event was the work of about 40 different groups, including non-profit groups, government agencies and for-profit entities.

Julie Hardle of Optum Health said people don’t always know how to deal with mental health issues.

“Very often we know first aid,” she said. “We know what CPR means, but it’s much more often we’ll find ourselves in a situation where someone is having an emotional crisis or a psychiatric crisis.”

The emphasis at the fair was on family and children’s services. Optum health hosted the event. Event organizers said they hope the fair becomes an annual event.
