SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Department of Transportation officials said there will be delays and detours this weekend while significant construction work is performed on Utah roadways.

UDOT will be closing some on and off ramps on I-80 and I-215 near the Salt Lake City International Airport.

Crews will work to repair the concrete, and selected ramps will be closed each night of the weekend from 9 p.m. until 8 a.m. Those traveling to the airport during the closures will need to take I-15 or Bangerter Highway.

I-15 is scheduled to be reduced to having two lanes open in both directions from Lehi Main Street to 2100 North from Friday at 8 p.m. until Monday at 6 a.m. Crews will be carrying out bridge maintenance. According to a press release from UDOT, drivers should plan for heavy delays of up to an hour on Saturday afternoon and up to 45 minutes Sunday evening. These restrictions will continue each weekend through September.

Adan Carrillo with the Utah Department of Transportation said they are working hard to finish the projects while the weather is still warm.

"We have to perform some proactive maintenance to keep that road in good shape, and now is the time," he said. "We have two more months left for construction season, and we have to get some of these projects done before those temperatures get colder for us."
