SANDY, Utah --  Dozens of dogs from all over showcased their dock diving skills at a competition held Friday.

The Roving Dock Diving Competition was held at Scheels, a sporting goods store located at 11282 S State Street in Sandy.

The dogs jump off the end of a dock 41 feet long after their toys are tossed in. The dogs’ jumps are measured.

Tracy Hughes, assistant at American Diving Dogs, said the competition is open to all kinds of dogs.

“There are no really classifications,” she said. “Any breed, any type of dog, any size can compete. We have anything from small Jack Russell terriers to big mastiffs that compete in this. You'll see a lot of dobbies here this weekend that are pushing 80, 90 pounds."

The competition is divided into categories, including miniature dogs, amateur dogs, a pro division and there is even an elite division for dogs who have made two jumps of more than 23 feet and 1 inch.
