SALT LAKE CITY – An individual was taken to a hospital with minor injuries after a wreck involving a car and a semi truck Saturday.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. near 1730 South and 5600 West in Salt Lake City.

Lt. Josh Scharmin, Salt Lake City Police Department, said a vehicle traveling north on 5600 West appears to have run the red light and crashed into a semi that was turning left to go south on 5600 West.

Scharmin said the driver of the passenger vehicle was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. He said it is not clear why the driver failed to yield to the light.

Police are still investigating the accident and interviewing witnesses. FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
