SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City Police have identified the two victims who died of gunshot wounds in the Poplar Grove neighborhood Monday.

Calvin Eatchel, 51, and  Debra Eatchel, 53, died in what police said was an apparent murder/suicide. They were found at 254 S Eisenhower Way at 12:30 p.m.

Christina Moncada, a resident who lives near the crime scene, said she didn’t know who the victims were, but she said she was able to peek outside from an upstairs window in her home while Police collected forensic evidence.

"I thought at first the guy got ran over by the lady, but come to find out, I seen the gun taken from his hand, so I kind of knew he shot her, shot himself probably,” she said.

The Salt Lake City Police Department didn't release many details about the investigation Monday. Officials said a woman was found lifeless, slumped over in a car, and not too far away a man was dead in the street. Detective Rick Hall said the community can rest easy.

"We're not looking for any suspects right now," he said.

Most of the doors FOX 13 News knocked on stayed closed, and one resident we talked to had no idea about the shooting until we told him. For another resident named Cathy, who has lived in the area for 35 years, the shooting brings up a painful past, when her neighborhood was riddled with gang violence.

"It was nothing to be curling your hair in the morning and hear gunshots,” she said. “I just hope it's nobody I know."
