Man investigated for DUI after crashing ATV with 2 child passengers

UTAH COUNTY – A Springville man is being investigated for DUI after he crashed an all-terrain vehicle, which injured himself and his two passengers, who are ages 10 and 4.

According to a press release from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck occurred at Sandy Beach near the south end of Utah Lake Sunday at around 5 p.m.

The driver, 28-year-old Nathan A. Devenish, was carrying a 4-year-old boy seated in front of him and his 10-year-old daughter was on the back of the Banshee ATV. He crashed into a parked vehicle in the area.

The 4-year-old boy suffered minor abrasions. The 10-year-old girl suffered head and back injuries. According to the press release, Devenish is suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck, and he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The two children were taken by ambulance to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.

It is unknown whether the children were wearing helmets.
