PROVO, Utah -- From the Grand Parade in Provo, which attracts hundreds of thousands, to the Freedom Festival at the Old Granite High School, many Utah families kicked off their Fourth of July celebration Wednesday night.

Fun was the perfect word to describe the atmosphere at the freedom festival in South Salt Lake.

In Provo, people are preparing for a big parade, but Fox 13 found some disappointment along the way when we told them Kelly Clarkson's concert won't be airing on the Armed Forces Network Thursday night. The concert is part of America's Freedom Festival at The Stadium of Fire, and most of that show will be shown on the Armed Forces Network.

"I would assume there would be a good following with the armed forces with Kelly Clarkson, so yeah I think that's sad that they wouldn't do it," said Rich Tyson who is camping out for the Grand Parade.

Despite the disappointment, there was still a lot to look forward to.

'It will still be fine, and it will be great," said Janell Tyson, who has been coming to the Grand Parade in Provo for 10 years.

Across the Wasatch Front, April Nithiharto was having a fun time at the freedom festival in South Salt Lake.

"We are having a great time,” she said.

Families enjoyed good music, rock climbing and food.

"We love funnel cakes," said Joni.

Fox 13 reached out to Clarkson's manager in LA to ask why the concert wouldn't be aired on AFN, but our call was not returned.
