SALT LAKE CITY – There is an active search for two teenage girls accused of stealing a pair of dogs from the Humane Society.

Two girls who are believed to be between 14 and 16 years old spent about an hour at the shelter before taking Bella, a 13-year-old female chihuahua, and Titus, a 2-month-old white and tan male chihuahua mix.

“This isn’t a money issue for us, we’re not concerned about the cost. We’re concerned about the well-being of the dogs,” said Jamie Usry, development director for the Humane Society of Utah.

The girls were seen driving away in a late model white four-door Toyota Corolla. There is a $500 reward for information about the incident.
