SALT LAKE CITY —  An organization kicked off a new campaign Wednesday called “It’s OK to Plan Small Families.”

The Utah Population and Environment Coalition is encouraging people to consider the financial, emotional, physical and environmental factors before having children.

Susan Soleil, Utah Population and Environment Coalition, said they want people in Utah to know small families can be just as loving and wonderful as large families.

“We want to make sure that those that are choosing to have small families know that that is an option and it’s OK to plan, it is OK to make that choice, and to have validation for that choice,” she said.

The organization is also holding a contest on their website for people to guess how many diapers a baby uses during its first year of life. The person with the closest guess will win a year’s supply of free diapers. Click here to visit the organization’s website.
