TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — One of two people who worked together to steal more than $1,000 from a Girl Scout troop as they were selling cookies in Taylorsville was sentenced Monday.

Kayla Marie Long, 24, will spend up to five years in prison and is required to pay $700 in restitution.

Annie Cutler of the Girl Scouts of Utah said they are grateful justice has been served.

“We want to thank the public officials, and the police officers that made this a priority from the beginning,” she said. “We also want to thank the community for the outreach and support in making these girls whole again.”

Long’s alleged accomplice, Steven Kvenvold, is scheduled for a pretrial on Tuesday.
