SALT LAKE CITY – The Patriotic Walk was held at Fort Douglas Saturday, and scouts were awarded merit badges as the public learned more about U.S. history.

The free event was open to the public, and veterans were on hand at the military museum to educate attendees about America’s wars.

The Roman Army History Society was there to help with reenacting and demonstrating some common themes from past wars.

Michael Anderson, Utah Living History Association, said the event is important because it helps people remember the past.

“A lot of it has been forgotten today,” he said. “I think what’s wrong with America today is history has been forgotten, and we keep history going.”

The event also featured the Wasatch Scottish Bagpipe Band and a vintage military vehicle parade.
