SALT LAKE CITY – Many teachers are willing to go the distance for their students, but one Salt Lake City teacher is going about 475 miles for his pupils.

Mike Roberts teaches at Rowland Hall Middle School, and he will be running 35 miles each day on his way from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas in an attempt to raise $35,000 for his school.

The funds raised would go toward the school’s Steiner campus. Roberts said he hopes his actions will benefit the school and the community.

“We’re building our athletic fields coming up, so hopefully it will go toward that and get people more engaged in running and just being active in the community,” he said.
