(CNN) — Grumpy Cat’s ready for her closeup.
According to reports, the feline famous for her displeased look could soon have a movie built around her.
Entertainment Weekly describes it as a “Garfield”-esque tale in which Grumpy Cat – real name, Tardar Sauce – would have the ability to speak.
Grumpy Cat’s already Internet famous thanks to the popular meme that got its start last September, after the brother of Grumpy Cat’s owner shared some of the pet’s photos on Reddit.
According to Deadline, which first reported the story, Grumpy Cat’s representation – yes, the cat has representation – is working with Broken Road’s Sean Robins and Todd Garner to produce the project.
Garner told Deadline that the potential for a pleasing family film is pretty clear.
“This started off as a picture of a cat, but rare is an image that evokes that much comedy,” Garner said. “You read all of the memes and the comments, and one is funnier than the next. We think we can build a big family comedy around this character.”
