SALT LAKE CITY – Members of the Boys and Girls Club created and painted a mural on the wall of a Sugar House business on Saturday.

Hawkwatch International employees asked the kids to paint a large raptor mural on the wall, making it visible to riders on the new Sugarhouse Streetcar line.

Employees at Hawkwatch say raptors are important because they can indicate when things are out of balance in our environment.

“Raptors are our focus. Raptors are important to nature. They’re an apex indicator species. If something is going wrong with the raptors, things are going wrong in the larger environment,” said Caroline Goldman, Hawkwatch International.

Goldman says that they hope the raptor mural will become a major landmark in their community.
