SYRACUSE, Utah – Utah’s cowboys and cowgirls came together Saturday to share their love of music and poetry.

Dozens of people came to the Fielding Garr Ranch in Syracuse for the annual Cowboy Poetry and Music Show.

Cowboy singer David Anderson said cowboy music came long before rappers, rockers and even country music.

“Cowboy music started in the herds, and western music is basically perpetuated by the old cowboy movies... that's what we're trying to bring back, that style of music,” he said. “It's a good wholesome type of music. That's where it came from."

The event celebrated cowboy culture, which some participants said is the heartbeat of America.
