SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested early Thursday morning after he allegedly threatened to take a person hostage and have a shootout with police.

Jerry Joseph Romero, aka “Cycle,” kicked in the back door of an apartment and showed a .357-caliber bullet to a person who lived there, according to a probable cause statement.

Romero allegedly threatened to take the victim hostage and have a shootout with police if the victim called them.

Officers responded to the scene shortly after midnight and arrested Romero without further incident. Romero was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail, where he faces a first-degree felony charge of aggravated burglary.
