A national run on ammunition is hitting home, affecting Utah police officers.

After President Obama was re-elected, there was a run on guns and ammo, and it continues months after the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting in Connecticut.

Gun owners fear the fight over new gun control measures is not over, even though legislation calling for expanded background checks failed to pass last month.

There was also speculation online that the Department of Homeland Security is stockpiling ammunition. Whether true or not, members of Congress are investigating and some Utah police departments are feeling a ripple effect.

Coming up tonight on Fox 13 News at Nine, Gene Kennedy brings us a special report on the Run for Ammo, and how the cost could end up being passed on to taxpayers.
