TOOELE, Utah – A missionary with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is recovering after being hit by a car in Texas.

Ruth Todd, spokeswoman for the Church said that 19-year-old Elder Michael Garver, from Tooele, was hit by a vehicle while he and his companion were walking their bikes on the side of a road on May 2.

Todd says he was taken to a nearby medical center for emergency care and is recovering.

“Elder Garver is recovering very well and our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Elder Garver’s companion was uninjured,” the statement read.

Garver was serving in the Texas San Antonio Mission.
