PARK CITY, Utah — One hundred wives and mothers of military members were honored at a special Mother’s Day brunch held Sunday in Park City.

The brunch is at the St. Regis Deer Valley from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and family members of soldiers deployed from Hill Air Force were invited.

The event was organized by the hotel’s general manager, Stan Kaminski, whose father served in the Air Force in Vietnam. He said it’s important to honor military wives and mothers, especially when the men and women they love are thousands of miles away.

“Us as civilians don’t really understand what goes on in a military base, and whether you’re fighting or supporting a war it doesn’t matter: These ladies and gentlemen are spectacular U.S. citizens, and it’s time us as citizens give back to them,” he said.

This is the third year the St. Regis has treated families of deployed soldiers, and Sunday’s menu was filled with gourmet items like king crab, oysters, and lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberry compote.
