SALT LAKE CITY - The U.S. Attorney's Office in Utah was recused in the investigation of Utah Attorney General John Swallow, the Department of Justice said Monday.

In a press release, the DOJ said the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Utah will be recused, or excused, from further investigation into the case. The Public Integrity Section of the Department of Justice will continue the investigation.

A judge or prosecutor is typically recused because of conflict of interest, though the specific reason in this case wasn't identified.

Swallow is being investigated for allegedly soliciting bribes from top federal legislators in the fraud case of southern Utah businessman Jeremy Johnson and Johnson's Internet company I-Works.
