SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah State Supreme Court has upheld the conviction and sentence of a man ordered to spend his life in prison without parole.

Miguel Mateos-Martinez, 25, was convicted in 2007 in the fatal shooting of Glendale salon owner Faviola Hernandez.

Martinez challenged both his conviction and his sentence. He said his constitutional rights have been violated during the trial. But the state’s high court upheld the conviction and sentence for charges of aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.
