WEBER COUNTY, Utah -- Three years after the brutal slaying of a four-year-old boy, a memorial walk was held to remember the child and support other children who have suffered physical, emotional or sexual abuse.
Ethan Stacy was found in a shallow grave near Powder Mountain in Weber County in 2010. His stepfather, Nathan Sloop, and his mother, Stephanie Sloop, have been accused of abusing and killing Ethan.
The memorial walk began at the Layton Hills Mall and went for more than 10 miles before ending at the Davis County Jail in Farmington.
Attendee Anissa Martinez urged people to be aware of the signs of abuse.
"There are several children out there, they could be your neighbor or in your house, being abused by someone in your family or outside your family or a friend,” she said. “If you suspect something please call the police.”
Nathan Sloop faces charges of aggravated murder, criminal homicide and child abuse.
