Big Budah’s blog: Fitting in at Disneyland

The trip to Disneyland was amazing. It had been twenty years since the last trip where I was able to enjoy any of the thrill rides. I was apprehensive and skeptical about my chances of fitting on any of the classics, let alone on the new attractions. But fortunately my worries didn’t match reality.

The first ride was the Peter Pan ship, and it is built for three people to ride in. Amazingly, my wife and I fit with room to spare. Next we went on California Screamin’ and then the Indiana Jones ride. As we went on ride after ride I was becoming more comfortable. I found myself not even thinking about whether or not if I would fit on a ride, I just assumed I would fit and enjoy the experience.

We went to the park when the gates opened and didn’t leave until closing time. It is the first time in a long time that I was able to complain about my dogs hurting from the amount of walking we did instead of because of my weight. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am still plenty big, but if you go to the store and pick up a 65 lb bag of flour…that’s what I used carry around—but things are getting easier now.

Food wasn’t really a problem because of the physical impossibility of eating more than six ounces of solid food. I will admit that I did have a craving for a turkey leg though. I was only able to have two bites and be full, but it sure did taste heavenly!

Now that our trip has ended, I am looking forward to next Tuesday for my check up and follow-up. Read more about my journey and Losing for Life here.
