SALT LAKE CITY – Two suspects are in custody on charges in connection with the Saturday afternoon theft of money from Girl Scouts selling cookies in Taylorsville.

Steven Andrew Kvenvold and Kayla Long, both 24 years old, allegedly drove up to Girl Scouts selling cookies outside the Taylorsville Walmart at around 4 p.m. Saturday and Kvenvold then allegedly walked up to the scouts and grabbed their profits before the pair drove off.

According to the Girl Scouts of Utah Twitter account, police said the suspect was identified through tips from the community and diligent work. They also said media coverage of the incident was “paramount in solving [the] case.”

Long was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of felony theft. Kvenvold surrendered to police on Wednesday evening.
