SALT LAKE CITY -- Those who have been eagerly waiting their delivery of Girl Scout Cookies can rest assured that their order is in Utah and ready for delivery.

Redman Van and Storage was transformed into cookie central on Saturday as more than one million boxes of Girl Scout Cookies arrived for delivery.

Girl Scout Council members and volunteers worked together to pack and transport the cookies, and despite the vast numbers of boxes, Jennifer Jones, Girl Scouts of Utah, said the operation only takes a few hours.

“It takes us approximately two and a half hours,” Jones said.

Jones said the moving and loading is done by adults, rather than the scouts.

“Safety issues—so what we want first of all is for our girls to be safe, and in a warehouse like this you don’t want all these girls—too many liability factors,” she said.

The Girl Scouts will pick up their orders over the next week, and then they have two weeks to deliver the boxes to their cookie clients.

Between 5,853 Girl Scouts there were 1,554,636 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies sold, which is an average of 324 boxes per scout.

Jones said those who didn’t order any cookies still have a chance to score, as extra cookies will be sold at supermarkets, gas stations and other places across the state starting the second week of March.

“We order thousands and thousands of extra cookies,” she said.
