Orem mayor declares February Bullying Awareness Month

Posted

OREM, Utah – Orem City Mayor Jim Evans is making February a Bullying Awareness month.

Evans teamed up with Utah Valley University students and public safety officers to promote the “Be Cool Not Cruel” anti-bullying campaign.

The movement encourages everyone to recognize and report bullying. There’s also a program for those who would like to report bullying anonymously.

“We’re hoping this gives kids another tool to use to be able to report say bullying without any plans or repercussion against them. One hundred percent anonymous. You can put a whole lot of information in this tip program,” said Orem Police Sgt. Craig Martinez.

The program will be tested at Timpanogos High School before being expanded to other Utah County schools.
