LAYTON, Utah -- Two Northridge High School teens decided to ask special needs students to their school’s Sweetheart Ball, and their dates were thrilled.

Jordan Dyett said the idea came to her when her friend Devin Register told her he was sad he hadn’t been asked to the dance.

“Well, Devin came to me last week in class and told me he was upset cause no one had asked him to sweethearts yet,” she said. “And I wanted to go to sweethearts I just didn't know who to ask. So I thought, ‘Why don't I ask Devin, and then my best friend Ashley can ask his best friend Conner?’”

The date was an all-day affair involving bowling, dinner and the dance, all of which the boys enjoyed.

“This date’s gonna be awesome, cause we’re going to, like, hang out and stuff,” Register said.

Ashley Brusett was Conner Enz's date to the dance, and she said she enjoyed herself a great deal.

“They’re so fun,” she said. “Like there's nothing they ever worry about. They're always laughing and having a good time, and you don’t have to worry about any of the same old high school drama. It’s just fun.”
