SALT LAKE CITY -- A local spa is helping homeless youth in Salt Lake City by providing spa services to young women in need.

Volunteers with Juniper Desert were at the Volunteers of America Youth Homeless Drop-in Center of Salt Lake City to offer free services to girls like Faith.

Faith lives on the streets of Salt Lake City, and she said she enjoyed her first spa experience. She said normally she cleans her nails with a pocket knife, so this was a treat for her.

“I just got an oil and brown sugar scrub,” she said. “It feels really nice."

Crystal George works with Juniper Desert, and she said she was worried about homeless youth.

“We were really concerned about the homeless youth in this weather, this harsh climate and conditions,” she said. “We wanted to come down and give them a day of pampering, a day of care.”

George said the spa day was a win for everyone involved.

“It feels really good to be taken care of, and it feels good to just have a conversation and talk,” she said. “And when you come out on the other end looking better and feeling better, I think everyone wins."
