SALT LAKE CITY -- The Salt Lake County Public Works Department worked to remove ice from sidewalks after Thursday's freezing rain.

A spokesman for the department said they are pleased with the results. They didn't need to plow much, and most of the ice removal was accomplished with salt and sand.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the streets and sidewalks surrounding urgent public facilities.

Residential sidewalks are the responsibility of the homeowner.
