Retrial begins for man accused of sex abuse

Posted

A man accused of posing as marriage counselor and sexually abusing his female clients will appear in court Tuesday for a retrial.

Arturo Tenorio was convicted of abusing one of his patients last August, but the judge in the case ordered a retrial.

A second count of abuse ended in a mistrial and prosecutors want Tenorio retried on that charge.

Prosecutors said two women came forward separately, saying Tenorio was their counselor and that he made inappropriate comments and sexual advances toward them.

They said they initially met with Tenorio with their husbands several time for counseling, but then met separately and it was in those sessions that the alleged abuse occurred.

Investigators said Tenorio did not have a license to do any counseling or therapy.
