SALT LAKE CITY - A woman suspected in a series of armed robberies throughout the Salt Lake Valley was arrested without incident on Wednesday, officials say.

Sandra Chotia-Thompson and Kelly F. Simons are suspected in an armed robbery at a Murray restaurant on Saturday evening.

One of the suspects in that robbery allegedly shot at a Murray police officer, who returned fire. No one was injured in that shootout, but the two suspects were able to get away in a hijacked vehicle.

Earlier Wednesday, police were looking for Chotia-Thompson and Simons near 974 South Lake Street (740 East).

Jim Phelps with the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team says his team was attempting to serve an arrest warrant on one of the women and she wouldn't comply.

The suspect attempted to drive away in a pickup truck and allegedly tried to run over a JCAT officer. Salt Lake City Police Lt. J.R. Nelson said a JCAT officer, who is assigned to South Salt Lake, opened fire and killed the woman in the truck.

The suspect killed Wednesday was identified as Simons.

JCAT officials confirm that Chotia-Thompson was taken into custody without incident near the Smith's Marketplace in downtown Salt Lake City at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
