SALT LAKE CITY - An woman suspected of being involved in a recent armed robbery was shot and killed Wednesday near Liberty Park.

The shooting occurred at 974 S Lake Street (740 E) after police were looking for two female suspects, who were identified as Sandra Chotia-Thompson and Kelly F. Simons.

Jim Phelps, commander of the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team, said his team was attempting to serve an arrest warrant on one of the women and that she wouldn't comply.

The suspect attempted to drive away in a pickup truck and allegedly tried to run over a JCAT officer. Salt Lake City Police Lt. J.R. Nelson said a JCAT officer, who is assigned to South Salt Lake, opened fire and killed the woman in the truck.

The suspect who was killed Wednesday was not directly identified, but police said Wednesday evening that they were still looking for Sandra Chotia-Thompson.

The woman who was killed Wednesday was wanted in connection with an armed robbery at Scaddy's Fresh Grill, a restaurant in Murray. The restaurant was robbed Saturday evening.

One of the suspects in the robbery allegedly shot at a Murray police officer, who returned fire. No one was injured in the shootout on Saturday.
