Provo police arrest allegedly suicidal woman after standoff

PROVO, Utah – Police in Provo say they’ve arrested a suicidal woman who forced them into a standoff.

Officers say they responded to a call of a 43-year-old suicidal woman with a gun on Thursday morning near 255 North and 1600 West.

Police say the woman shot a round in the ceiling then threatened them while they were trying to negotiate with her.

Officers say they evacuated nearby homes and were able to take her into custody after three hours of negotiations.
