Six-year-old Emilie Parker was among the students who were killed in Newtown, Connecticut Friday. On Monday, some Utahns who are friends of the Parker family talked to FOX 13 News about their efforts to raise money for the Parkers.

When Alan and Brook Prothero first heard about what happened to Emilie, they wanted to help Emilie's parents. They set up a donation account at America First Credit Union and a Facebook page to encourage people to donate.

"We just put the account together and threw it on a Facebook page and sent it to all our friends. And that's what the purpose was, initially, was friends and family to know what was going on," Alan Prothero said.

The Facebook page has spread virally since its launch. It had received more than 307,000 Likes by Monday night.

Alan Prothero did not disclose the amount of money raised for the Parkers, but said the donations have been "more than generous."
