SANDY, Utah - A group of special needs students performed an impromptu dance routine for visitors in the food court on Wednesday.

Forty students, 18 to 22 years old, from South Valley School, danced to One Direction's "You Don't Know You're Beautiful," in flash mob style in front of a crowd in the South Towne Mall food court.

"I have been very excited to have everybody watch me so it's pretty fun," said 21-year-old Kelsey.

Although the dance was only a couple minutes long, organizers say it gives the students self-esteem and shows the spirit of dedication and teamwork.

"They've been so excited to perform in the community somewhere and just to show who they are and that anyone can dance and have fun," said Lindsay Bailey, a special education teacher at South Valley School.

It took months of practice for the students to get the performance together, and it paid off with their performance in front of dozens of family, friends and strangers.
