BOUNTIFUL, Utah -- A number of political campaign signs once destined for the trash bin may be now used for a new purpose: target practice.

The Bountiful Lions Club Gun Range wants your unused signs.

"I dont even read the names on them to be honest with you -- I just shoot 'em," says one Lions Club target shooter.

Now political has-beens -- campaign signs that no longer have a purpose -- can be repurposed at the shooting range.

"We use them as target backers here," says range representative Mitch Dalby. "They don't get thrown in the garbage. They don't go to the landfill. They kind of get recycled -- kind of a green thing I guess you could say."

The campaign signs are the perfect size and material for a target backer and they are happily accepting one candidate’s trash as their treasure.

The gun range considers the political signs they receive as a donation, not a political statement.

"This is not meant to hurt anyone's feelings, absolutely not," said Dalby.

The Lions Club gun range managers say people can come up anytime and drop off old campaign signs. They are open seven days a week.

If Bountiful is too out-of-the-way, they also say many other gun ranges will happily accept old campaign signs.
