Utah Department of Transportation is set to reopen all lanes on Interstate 15 as they wrap up the final stages of the I-15 Core project this weekend.

After almost three years of construction, all six lanes will be open on I-15 through the project zone. It is a 24 mile stretch from Lehi to Spanish Fork. All ramps will be open as well.

Additionally, the speed limit will be back to 65 mph.

UDOT has rebuilt ten freeway interchanges, including the new diverging diamond interchange at American Fork. They have also added, rebuilt or modified approximately 63 bridges.

"It did seem like a long time for those folks that were driving down there every single day and we do appreciate their patience," said Tania Mashburn, UDOT. "What a lot of people don't realize that 35 months seems like a long time, but it is actually the fastest billion dollar highway project ever done in the United States. And it came in $230 million under budget and ahead of schedule."

The project will be completed in December as UDOT continues to work on painting, fencing and landscaping.
