Man charged for allegedly hitting, killing teen while texting and drving

VERNAL, Utah – Charges have been filed against a 28-year-old man accused of hitting and killing a teenager while texting and driving.

Police say Jeffery Bascom was driving a pickup when he hit 15-year-old Tommy Clark on Sept. 2. Clark died in a hospital the next day.

An 8th District Court judge charged Bascom with automobile homicide involving the use of a handheld wireless communication device while driving.
