SALT LAKE CITY -- A new non-traditional high school is opening up in Salt Lake City this month and some say its format might be the future of education.

The goal of Innovations High School is to help students take advantage of their "peak learning time" through self-directed and self-pace learning.

'Which means that students can move through their school work at their pace and if they have the competency and capacity to move quicker, but still through an aggressive curriculum, they have that ability to do so,” explains Principal Kenneth Grover.

According to the school website, students will be required to be on campus four hours each school day and can attend anytime between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Innovations is part of the public school system and open to students in the Salt Lake City School District.
