SALT LAKE CITY - Two kids got an opportunity to see first-hand what Life Flight crews do to help save victims in need of emergency help.

As the winners of the Intermountain Healthcare Life Flight Facebook contest, McKay, 7, and Hayden, 8, got to take a trip to the hangar and get a VIP tour of the helicopters and airplanes used in emergency response. The kids got to explore the aircraft and witness a takeoff.

The kids also learned about how to stay safe and avoid the injuries that would require Life Flight service.

"With the kids, we talk about bike safety and street safety. There is an increased amount of auto-pedestrian accidents right now and we want them to be aware so we don't have to come pick them up," said Andrea Clement, a registered nurse.

Intermountain is considering holding the contest again next year after this year's success.
