New details in the deaths of Charlie and Braden Powell are expected to be released on Thursday.

The children of Susan Cox Powell and Josh Powell, were killed by their father in a murder-suicide in February 2012.

Washington state's Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) began a child fatality review following the boys' deaths.

It is standard procedure to conduct a review like this, but in the case, the department brought together a group of experts to see if anything could have been done to prevent the tragedy.

The team includes police officers, domestic violence experts, and psychologists.

The DSHS release a statement about the process that said is part, "We welcome this transparent process and appreciate that the highly respected individuals on this review panel are willing to contribute their time, wisdom and expertise to ensure accountability and the quality of child welfare in this state."

The review was closed to the press, but DSHS said they plan to evaluate training, policies, and social work practices to improve future services and prevent another tragedy.

The department said they will release their finding at 10 a.m. Thursday.
